What You Need to Know About CoolSculpting

About Coolsculpting Treatment

This new treatment known as CoolSculpting was approved for cosmetic use in 2010 by the FDA. Usually, just being approved is enough for most people to feel comfortable moving forward with treatment. However, some may still be wondering if this cosmetic procedure is truly safe and worth the investment. Ava Laser Clinic has put together an easy to understand guide that answers all your questions about CoolSculpting, including what it is, how it works, and why it is safe.

CoolSculpting & The FDA

CoolSculpting is one of the most popular fat reduction treatments that also happen to be non-invasive. This FDA approved treatment is used in 9 areas of the body to freezes fat cells. The most commonly treated areas are the thighs and the lower stomach. It is also approved for and effective in treating fat on the face, such as the lower chin and neck area. In 2016, the FDA gave its seal of approval for the procedure to be used on back fat, under butt fat, and even fat under the arms.

What Does Non-Invasive Mean?

Non-invasive in regards to cosmetic procedures means that there are no knives or needles used for the treatment. As a result, there are very little risks and little to no downtime following the procedure. CoolSculpting uses a form of cryolipolysis technology to freeze the fat cells in the treatment area. According to research at Harvard, the fat cells in our body respond to specific temperatures that trigger cell death. Your body naturally removes dead cells from your body over time, so these fat cells are flushed out naturally.

How Does CoolSculpting Work?

The treatment works by cooling the fat cells in the treatment area to just above freezing. This causes crystals to form in the cells which trigger cell death. Once they have died, the body will use its normal inflammatory process to flush them out of your body via the lymphatic system. The flushing process is natural, so depending on the number of fat cells treated, your final results may not be seen for several weeks.

Is CoolSculpting Really Safe?

There have been more than 7 million CoolSculpting treatments completed all over the world since it was given the FDA seal of approval. The technology has been proven as an effective way to reduce the fat layer on the body with little to no side effects.

Should I get CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a great way to get rid of stubborn fat without the risks and downtime that comes from other invasive forms of cosmetic surgery. If you have been working out and dieting, but still can seem to get rid of that double chin, muffin top, or other pudgy areas, this is a great and safe option.
